Mental Health Deserves More

Ian's Journey Inspires Our Mission
After their son Ian, a University of Michigan swimmer, died by suicide in 2020, Steve and Jill Miskelley created TEAM BE BETTER; to ensure that family-centered mental health support, education, and advocacy is available to everyone.
Ian was a student, a brother, a nephew, and a friend who bravely fought mental illness for most of his life.
Mental illness can affect anyone. There are no exceptions, no warnings, and it's cruel and unfair. Mental illness is not a character flaw or a weakness.
We are all stronger together and the support of a team is crucial in mental health and wellness. With TEAM BE BETTER; you and your family are never alone.

Our Mission
To provide education and consultations that are family-centered and to ensure continued family involvement in mental health care through advocacy and provider network development.
Our Vision
A fundamental shift in mental healthcare that ensures family involvement.

Our Team
TEAM BE BETTER; is supported by a Board of Directors who bring personal experience with mental health and suicide loss, event planning, fundraising and development, and marketing.
